Las placas de calidad de la caldera también más comúnmente llamadas como placas de caldera son aquellas placas de acero suave con composición química y propiedades mecánicas que hacen que estas placas bq sean capaces de soportar altas temperaturas y fuertes presiones. Las placas de la caldera se utilizan en diversas aplicaciones de alta temperatura tales como calderas del vapor, calderas hechas del acero suave, recipientes de presión, pipas comunes de la pluma, balas del LPG, son algunos de los ejemplos.

Los aceros Mehta son los más abundantes en placas BQ probadas según la norma IS 2002 GR.II, IS 2002 Gr.III, IS 2041 R 220, IS 2041 R 260.

Algunos de los grados comunes que están disponibles fácilmente en existencias son IS 2002 Gr.II y ASTM A 516 Gr.70 grado equivalente IS 2041 R 260.
